About This Blog

This blog is called “Two in a yurt”. The blogger is originally from Kazakhstan, but has been living in Canada since 2000. Her inner life is as vast as Kazakh steppe and Canadian prairies. Just as Kazakh akyns a.k.a. the epic storytellers, she observes life and tells her stories from her imaginary yurt.

What is the yurt?

In the past Kazakhs were pastoral nomads or semi-nomads and the Kazakh yurt was their mobile dwelling till 1920. The Kazakh yurt is a round-shaped, felt-covered construction with a dome. It can be easily assembled and disassembled, and transported to a new location within the short period of time. For centuries Kazakhs lived by the rhythms of the universe and laws of nature. The yurt symbolizes unity of people, nature and universe.

Who is the second person in the yurt?

The blogger is a Gemini and due to her Gemini nature she feels a constant urge to share her thoughts and questions with her “second half” and others.

  • Have you ever wondered if love is essential? And if you should love, even if you are not loved back?
  • Have you ever wondered if you are claustrophobic? Or if you’ve suddenly become one of those people who avoids camping?
  • Have you ever wonder if a dental flipper would stop you from kissing an attractive stranger? Or if you should warn him of your dental situation first?

This blog is a collection of reflections on life, living, and the importance of humour and laughter in our lives.
