Luiza Shamkulova is a proud Canadian, born and raised in the USSR. After the collapse of the USSR, she lived in an independent Kazakhstan (former Soviet Republic of Kazakhstan) for nine years and then moved to Canada. Luiza identifies as a Kazakh-Canadian or Canadian-Kazakh.
